Video: What Makes Genie’s GTH-1544 a Pick-and-Carry Machine?

Moving materials across the jobsite? Miles Cooksy examines a machine designed for heavy loads and repeated trips.

Telehandlers are good at lifting high. That’s true. But they’re also good at picking stuff up and running it around the jobsite. In fact, there are actually specialized telehandlers that are designated specifically to pick and carry, and funny enough, this episode of The Weekly Iron is focused on just that. Host Miles Cooksy breaks down the Genie GTH-1544, a pick-and-carry telehandler with a 15,000-pound maximum lift capacity that works without deploying stabilizers. We covered the machine’s introduction in June. Now Miles takes the discussion to our YouTube channel.

Watch the episode above to get the full monty. Below, we’ve collected the specs and major features. After that, enjoy a few other telehandler stories worth adding to your reading list.

More telehandler choices are arriving

Genie isn’t the only company dropping news on telehandlers. AXCS Equipment recently launched five TH-Series models, spanning 8,000- to 12,000-pound capacities and 42- to 56-foot lift heights. Meanwhile, JLG completed its SkyTrak overhaul with redesigned 10042, 10054, and 12054 telehandlers. These 10,000- and 12,000-pound machines gain SmartShift transmission technology, standard ClearSky Smart Fleet telematics, and a redesigned cab.
