    Peter Friedman, executive director of the Agriculture Transportation Coalition, is calling for investment in Illinois waterways from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), according to a report in Illinois Farmer Today.

    He cites recent transportation slowdowns on the Mississippi River due to decreased water levels.

    Friedman called for dredging as well as upgrades to the river’s lock system.
