Infrastructure Investments Could Improve Midwest Ports System

The federal government has expanded the inland Corn Belt Ports system to include five states, which may lead to investment in the system as a means to increase freight capacity, according to a report in Transport Topics.

The report cited a Ports official who said improving the roads leading to the inland ports would increase the effectiveness of the freight system in transporting grain grown in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
