Hyundai continues to pop up on my radar. There was that awesome 186-horsepower HX210L long track excavator. I would like to operate that digger. Backhoe pattern, please. I noticed Mike Ross was recently named president of HD Construction Equipment Hyundai North America this July. Congrats. And then there’s the dynamic duo of Develon and Hyundai. Now, here comes Hyundai again. The company just announced a new mid-sized compact track loader — the HT30. This unit brings a 71-horsepower engine, three factory configurations, and a sizable list of standard productivity features to an increasingly busy marketplace. It follows last year’s launch of the larger 115-horsepower HT38, giving Hyundai another option as it continues expanding its presence in the skid steer and CTL market. Size matters for this one. From the press release: 

“The medium-frame HT30 gives customers across a range of applications the power, lifting capacity, and versatility they need without buying more machine than their jobs require,” said Jason Taylor, Hyundai’s product manager for compact equipment.

The release also amplifies Hyundai’s broadening ambitions. The company has steadily expanded its compact equipment portfolio over the past few years with new mini excavators, skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, and one of the cooler electric mini excavators I’ve seen (it has a 10-hour running time). I visited with the company at bauma 2025, where Hyundai unveiled its last batch of compact loaders. I shot this video. It’s got beats. Now, the HT30 keeps that momentum going.

The Hyundai HT30 fits in the middle of the lineup

The Hyundai HT30 compact track loader is designed as a medium-frame machine. Buyers can choose from three factory configurations:

• Cab with standard-flow hydraulics
• Cab with high-flow hydraulics
• Canopy with standard-flow hydraulics

The enclosed-cab model delivers a rated operating capacity of 3,028 pounds, while the canopy version lifts 2,900 pounds. Every configuration reaches a hinge-pin height of 8 feet, 1 inch. Operating weight ranges from 10,448 pounds for the canopy machine to 11,141 pounds for cab-equipped models. Power comes from a 71-gross-horsepower diesel engine.

Standard features are the story

Hyundai didn’t skimp on the feature list. That’s one of the biggest takeaways. Cue the drum roll: 

• Ride control
• Creep control
• Hydraulic quick coupler
• Return-to-dig
• Lift-arm float
• Auto self-leveling
• Guarded LED work lights
• Reversible cooling fan

That’s a nice list. These are features contractors might expect to find on premium packages. Like all CTLs, this loader also supports dozens of attachments — buckets, brooms, breakers, bale spears, brush cutters, backhoes, and that’s just the Bs. 

Operator comfort gets attention

The enclosed cab borrows ideas from Hyundai’s larger equipment. Operators get a pressurized ROPS/FOPS cab with heat and air conditioning delivered through eight vents. Hyundai also includes a heated air-ride seat, Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-inch touchscreen display as standard equipment. Torsion suspension helps smooth the ride, while an escort light keeps exterior lighting on for 30 seconds after shutdown to improve visibility when leaving the machine after dark.

Maintenance also received considerable attention. Daily service points are accessible from ground level. A PowerCore air cleaner, reversible fan, and tilt-up cooling package help simplify cleaning while protecting the engine from dust and debris. Hyundai backs the machine with a three-year, 3,000-hour warranty.

The Hyundai and Develon connection

Hyundai's compact equipment growth ties into a bigger story.
