[VIDEO] NYC Startup Uses Robotics for Rebar Assembly

Oct. 17, 2019

A Brooklyn-based robotics startup, Toggle, recently landed $3 million in seed funding, which will be used to further develop robots that fabricate and assemble rebar. According to an article in The Verge, the robots are designed to work in tandem with existing robotics and steel fabrication technologies, while also speeding up the process.

According to the video, the process for putting together rebar is highly labor intensive, and inefficient. Since the bars are large, heavy, and difficult for humans to manipulate, Toggle aims to introduce robotics into the process to take the heavy lifting out of human hands.

The article reports that Toggle has begun a soft launch for projects in New York City, and expects to shift toward commercial production over the next year and a half.
