Train Hits Truck Transporting Concrete Bridge Beam, Derails

A freight train collided with a concrete bridge beam being hauled by a truck, which had stopped on the crossing. The force of the impact derailed the train and injured two on the train.

The collision occurred in Collegedale, Tennesee, and video shows the train hitting bridge beam. News reports cited the beam’s length at 134 feet.

Published reports said the truck driver was waiting for a green light and unsuccessfully attempted to clear the intersection when the crossing arms came down.
