Debate centers on ongoing needs

Maine Republicans are asking for permanent funding of that state’s transportation infrastructure, according to local news reports.

The conflict centers on guaranteed funding, according to the report, and has been an ongoing discussion for many years. The current budget includes $400 million, which is $265 million below what the Maine Department of Transportation needs to maintain its system, according to state officials.
