Bridge Price Triples to $2.3 Billion
A bridge in South Carolina will now cost $2.3 billion to build, leaving the bridge owner on the hook for nearly all of the increase, according to local news reports.
The Mark Clark Extension in Charleston County has been on the docket for years, according to the report, but the state’s 2019 agreement with the county capped its portion of the project at $420 million.
Although the project has yet to begin, the future of the bridge is in limbo as the county considers how or if it can raise the additional funds.
