States Could Lose Out in Lead Pipe Dollars

An outdated assessment of state needs for lead pipe remediation may result in some states not receiving funds included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIFA), reports Route Fifty.

The report cites a 2018 assessment made by the Environmental Protection Agency, which allocates monies proportionally based on the assessment.

Some state officials are saying the 2018 study does not adequately account for the amount of lead pipe that needs to be replaced.
