Mills from widths of 7 feet to 12.5 feet.

Model W 250 XF Wirtgen milling machine works to widths up to about 12 feet 6 inches. The milling drum can be exchanged for a Multiple Cutting System (MCS) milling drum within minutes, according to the company, enabling milling widths down to 7 feet.

Engine power output is 20% greater than on the predecessor machine. Active Dual Power dual-engine drive includes two John Deere engines that can deliver a combined peak power output of about 1,200 horsepower. Both diesel engines already deliver high torque at low engine speeds. The improved torque characteristic guarantees lower fuel consumption and fast, productive work, even at the machine’s maximum milling depth, according to the company.

The integrated Mill Assist machine control system regulates the power output of the two engines according to demand to ensure the most efficient use of the machine. Automatic mode balances performance and costs. It also allows the selection of three different working strategies that optimize the process with regard to costs, performance, or quality. In “performance-optimized” mode, a choice of three different engine power combination modes can be selected to meet the requirements of specific milling tasks.

Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker Milling (WPT Milling) automatically documents milling tasks. When the work has been completed, the data are transmitted to the machine owner. In addition to displaying construction site and machine data, the automated documentation also shows the carbon dioxide emissions for the entire construction site.

Level Pro Active leveling system has control panels that provide information and measured values from all currently connected sensors. The system is fully integrated in the control system of the cold milling machine and, as essential machine functions are directly interconnected, enables a high level of automation and precise milling results. The system also offers numerous automatic and additional functions that make the machine operator’s job easier, for instance, automatic lifting for driving over manhole covers.
