Maxam Tire Creates Mining Group

Feb. 4, 2020

Maxam Tire has created a global group to focus on off-road tires for the open pit mining segment. Maxam Mining Group (MMG) will be responsible for serving regional market demands, according to the company.

The unit’s research and development group will leverage research and testing in multiple mine locations around the world, and the engineering team will develop site-specific tire compounds and casing designs.

MMG has invested in a state-of-the-art manufacturing and quality process, it said. All mining tires are produced in multi-staged, custom-designed building equipment, which it says allows for consistent construction and minimal disruption of the casing during the curing process. Utilizing advanced shearography technology, all Maxam mining products are screened for internal defects as part of the standard inspection. In addition, extensive ultrasonic gauge testing is completed before product is approved for distribution.

With years of industry experience, Matt Johnson has been appointed VP of the group.

“We pride ourselves in delivering solutions with the lowest cost per hour/ton and provide long- term, mutually beneficial business relationships with our customers and our partnerships that only begins at the placement of Maxam products,” he said in a prepared statement.
