JLG ClearSky Access Control platform is an optional safety tool that allows rental companies to safeguard their machines, and add protection to end users by preventing unauthorized personnel from accessing equipment.

Machine operators use a unique ID number or “smart card” that allows them to access only the equipment they are authorized to operate through the machine’s radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader. The reader is environmentally sealed  to withstand harsh weather conditions, according to JLG. The screen’s LED display also remains visible in bright sunlight.

In addition, the portal provides real-time management of operator accessibility, equipment usage reports, and operator performance data analysis. Access Control also allows supervisors the remote management of users, machine lock-out, and access.

“JLG is pleased to offer our customers another level of security with their equipment,” Hampden Tener, senior director of global product management, said in a press release. “ClearSky Access Control gives rental companies and supervisors additional peace of mind on the job site, and it represents another customer inspired innovation from JLG.”
