The 57C-1 excavator is a new model for JCB and, along with the 47Z-1 and 55Z-1, rounds out the updates for the line. The 48Z-1 replaces the 8045Z, and the 55Z-1 replaces the 8055ZTS/RTS. Each excavator has a 48-horsepower Tier 4-Final engine.

The machines have a redesigned digging end, with a longer main boom and shorter dipper arm that provides up to 5 percent greater dump height. The hydraulic system upgrades deliver up to 9 percent more bucket breakout force and 2 percent higher dipper arm breakout, the company says. Grease intervals have been increased to 500 hours.

Cab updates improve visibility and space, the company says, and reduce noise and vibration. A new display screen and control system that permits the operator to set auxiliary hydraulic flows for two separate attachments from the cab. An electro-hydraulic dozer control lever controls two-speed tracking, dozer float, and a four-way adjustable dozer blade.
