The Connecticut Department of Transportation says hundreds of bridges are flaking chips of lead paint, according to local news reports.
The report cites temperature swings for the falling chips, and says the DOT inspected more than 2,100 bridges before issuing an alert to local municipalities to inspect bridges.
The report said remediation of the hazardous lead paint chips is underway.
