Analysis Pits Pittsburgh’s Bridges Against Pennsylvania’s
An analysis of bridges in Pittsburgh by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reveals what it terms “the massive gap in bridge repairs or replacement that has evolved in Pennsylvania over the last decade.”
The report said state-owned bridges in Pittsburgh have seen “millions” of dollars of work done on them, with the result being only three bridges still in poor condition.
The city, on the other hand, manages 79 bridges and 20 percent of them have been rated “poor” for a decade or more.
This count includes the Fern Hollow bridge that collapsed in January.
