Burks Excavation Matches Fleet to Project

Sept. 20, 2018

Burks Excavation operates in Wood River Valley and Sun Valley, Idaho, employing 12 tight-knit workers with invaluable skill sets. The company typically takes on custom home projects, building on challenging sites that are usually compact—only an acre or less of space.

The Burks fleet typically faces challenges with overlaying topsoil or loamy soil, generally ranging from 1 to 3 feet in depth. The team also runs into unstable river rock and sand cobbles, usually an issue when completing infrastructure projects.

To counter the land disadvantages, the Burks team thoroughly assesses each project they take on. After initially choosing the CASE 550 dozer, Burks now purchases CASE equipment to use throughout the entire fleet.

“We try to set ourselves up for the projects we’re working on, everything is pre-planned,” said Bo Burk, founder of Burks Excavation. “Without pre-planning, we fail.”

Burks prides itself on working in a timely fashion, and keeping project costs consistent from beginning to end.

“We work hard to make that happen,” Bo Burk said.
