A new model addition to the next generation of Genie S telescopic boom lifts, the Genie S-80 J,
is a higher reaching version of the recently introduced Genie S-60 J model. The new model has a
platform height of 80 feet, horizontal reach of 55 feet, unrestricted platform capacity of 660
pounds, accommodates two occupants, plus tools, and is equipped with a 6-foot jib. The machine
uses a 49-horsepower Kubota D1803 diesel engine, available in Tier 4-Final or Stage V versions
The new model, weighing 23,00 pounds, is equipped with the Genie 4-point Trax track and axle
system. The TraX system, says Genie, provides good traction in poor terrain and provides low
contact pressure for reduced damage when operating in sensitive ground surfaces, such wet
grass, mud, sand, and snow, as well as on harder, uneven gravel, rock, concrete, or asphalt-based
surfaces. The system uses oscillating axles and has a high ground clearance to further enhance
rough-terrain operation. The Genie S-80 J’s compact design, low weight, and off-set boom
stowing position, says Genie, gives rental companies the flexibility to combine this unit with
other machines on a single trailer.
The S-80 J also meets rental companies’ need for equipment with a low total cost of ownership,
says Genie, pointing out that the single-envelope mast design of the telescopic boom speeds up
inspections, maintenance, and repairs with fewer overall inspection points and wearable
components. The machine features Genie digital load sense technology for load weighing and
zero-load field calibration, which means it adheres to the overload guidelines in the United States
ANSI A92, the Canadian CSA B354, the European EN280, and the Australian AS 1418.10
standards.
Equipped with a CAN-based control system, the S-80 J uses a digital LCD screen at the ground
controls and is compatible with the Genie Tech Pro Link handheld diagnostics tool for
facilitating machine updates, calibration, and troubleshooting. Also, the new model is fitted with
the Genie Lift Connect telematics system. And, to meet common jobsite safety requirements,
says Genie, the S-80 J has as standard the Genie Lift Guard Contact Alarm system.
