Unleash the SnowStriker: Hilltip’s Box Plow Changes Width on the Fly
We’ve been pushing a little snow lately. For starters, you might have noticed our Big Push article where we explored snow attachments — blades, blowers, buckets, brooms, and other implements that don’t necessarily start with a B.
Well, we got one more attachment for the pile — Hilltip’s SnowStriker SFT Flex. Gotta say: SnowStriker is a pretty boss brand name. This attachment is a box plow with hydraulically expandable wings. It can also double as a straight blade, fitted to machines like a wheel loader or skid steer. From the press release:
“Compared with other box plows, the SFT Flex offers unmatched versatility for use in a wider range of winter maintenance applications,” said Craig Sandmann, managing director for Hilltip North America. “Nothing else offers the same level of efficiency and precision with every pass.”
One plow with three working widths
Hilltip offers the SnowStriker SFT Flex in three sizes. You got options. The plows fit tractors, loaders, and skid steers in the 1- to 4-ton class. Each model uses hydraulically extendable sections to change its clearing width while working.
Hilltip offers these SnowStriker SFT Flex attachments:
- The 13-21 SFT adjusts from 4 feet, 3 inches to 6 feet, 11 inches. It weighs 816 pounds
- The 15-25 SFT adjusts from 4 feet, 11 inches to 8 feet, 2 inches. It weighs 1,080 pounds
- The 18-29 SFT adjusts from 5 feet, 11 inches to 9 feet, 6 inches. It weighs 1,190 pounds
Box plow meets straight blade
What’s a box plow do again? Well, a box plow has those tall side plates to contain snow in front of the blade. This helps a loader push large, frosty volumes of powder. This attachment is great for plowing big spaces. Box plows are popular on wheel loaders at airports, for instance. Unlike an angled straight blade, which rolls snow to one side, a box plow carries the load forward with less spill-off. Folding side plates allow the SnowStriker SFT Flex to combine both plowing styles. The operator can hydraulically fold either side, converting the box-style attachment into a more conventional straight blade. The box blade is also designed to tilt and oscillate as it moves over uneven ground, helping maintain contact with the surface for a cleaner scrape.
Hilltip offers three cutting-edge choices:
- Steel edges for general plowing applications
- Ice-cutting edges for packed snow and ice
- Polyurethane edges for applications requiring a more forgiving edge
Cool options
- LED edge markers
- Custom mounting systems
- A 12-volt or 24-volt electric valve
- A plow shoe kit
- A four-line hydraulic system
- High-visibility orange paint

The SnowStriker SFT Flex is just one way to put construction equipment to work after winter weather arrives. Our Big Push feature explores more snow attachments for all types of carriers, from skid steers and wheel loaders to graders and UTVs. It also covers things like attachment matching and cold-weather operation. Check it out before the first big storm buries your jobsites, roads, and parking lots.
