The PC365LC-11 Komatsu excavator has an electric swing system with boom-up power assist that reduces cycle times by up to 15% in multifunction applications, according to the company, when compared to comparable Komatsu machines.
The 269-horsepower excavator has an operating weight range of 81,792 to 85,495 pounds with a bucket capacity range of 0.89 to 2.56 cubic yards.
The excavator digs to 24 feet 3 inches with a 10-foot arm. Dumping height is 23 feet 4 inches, and digging reach is 36 feet 5 inches.
Komatsu posted a promotional video, left.
The swing system has an ultracapacitor that stores an additional 70 electric horsepower for acceleration when the engine is in ultra-low idle. This stored energy can be used for instantaneous power to the working end. All electrical energy used in this system is generated during normal operation and stored in the ultracapacitor.
Available electric horsepower eliminates the need for hydraulic power for swing operations, including the boom, arm, and bucket cylinders. Optimizing hydraulic flow further reduces digging cycle times and reduces work equipment lag, according to the company.
