Caterpillar Grows Ecommerce Customers

The company saw a 100,000 boost in customers last year.

Caterpillar experienced a big boost in ecommerce customers in 2023, to the tune of 100,000 new users.

Cat group president Bob DeLange recently spoke at a Jeffries Group virtual event and highlighted some of his company's ecommerce efforts.

As reported by Digital Commerce 360, one part of the ecommerce initiative is the Cat Central mobile app. A customer can use the app to scan the QR code on a machine and get information directly related to that piece of equipment, which the app identifies through the serial number embedded in the QR code.

Cat surpassed $2 billion in digital part sales in 2021, and in May 2022 set a goal of increasing online sales through its dealers by another 50% within three years, the report said.
