Manitowoc Cranes latest rough-terrain model, the Grove GRT8120, is well-suited, says the
company, for a wide range of applications, including the petrochemical, construction, and wind
power industries.

The GRT8120 has a capacity of 120 tons, 197-foot main boom, and 265-foot maximum height
when equipped with the 57.6-foot bi-fold swing-away extension that is available in either manual
or hydraulically off-set configurations. Also new to the GRT8120 is the MAXbase asymmetrical
outrigger system, which, says Manitowoc, combines with the machine’s lightweight, compact
carrier and long boom to make this model ideal for congested job sites that require maximum
reach. According to the company, a wireless, handheld rigging remote facilitates on-site set-up,
and the CCS Crane Control System improves efficiency and reduces operator training time.

A new, wider, full-vision cab with 20-degree tilt maximizes operator comfort and visibility, says
the company, and the Boom Configurator mode simplifies the operator’s tasks when telescoping
the boom, while also and providing on-board lift planning. Combined with its compact
dimensions and its relatively lightweight gross vehicle weight, the crane is easily transported to
job sites, says Manitowoc, and job-site preparation is minimal. On site, the GRT8120 has a 15-
mph travel speed with full counterweight. The new crane also features a full LED lighting
package with new side-mounted carrier work lights.
