Caterpillar Upgrades Skid Steers, CTLs to D3 Series

Aug. 22, 2019

D3 Series skid steer and compact track loaders are updates over the D and D2 Series units. The new series support Smart Attachments by matching the controls and operator information to the attachment and task.

A wider cab door has been added, and the distance between joystick pods increase by 3 inches. The undercarriage frame and torsion axles have been improved to reduce machine pitching and rocking, the company says.

The 279D3 and 289D3 loaders have a top ground speed of 8.4 mph, up 20 percent over their D Series counterparts. The 239D3 and 249D3 have standard 2-speed transmission, which increases travel speed by 9 percent and brings them into conformity with the other CTLs in the lineup.
