The new engine features an electronically controlled common-rail fuel system, a waste-gated turbocharger, air-to-air charge-air cooling, and four valves per cylinder. According to Volvo Penta, power output for the new 7-liter engine is 250kVA prime 50 Hz and 227kWe standby 60Hz.

According to Volvo Penta, power output for the new 7-liter engine is 250kVA prime 50 Hz and 227kWe standby 60Hz. Dual-speed switching between 50 and 60 Hz is standard on the new engine, which uses the same electronic management system (EMS2) as Volvo Penta’s 9-, 12- and 16-liter engines.
