The new Cat D3 series skid steer and compact track loaders come standard with a new portfolio of Smart Attachments. The technology couples the machine with the chosen attachment and offers plug-and-play recognition between the two, adapting the joystick controls to the attachments, making them easy to use without separate controls.
According to the company, “smart technology” incorporates three things:
Recognition: Attachments are connected to the machine, and the machine recognizes it’s a smart attachment.
Tailored controls: Smart attachments tailor the controls to the attachment that is actually connected to it. Joysticks automatically convert to backhoe or excavator pattern, giving operators dedicated control.
On-screen information: Monitors on the inside of cabs deliver information specific to the attachment in use.
Operators can tailor their controls to function as backhoe controls, or excavator controls depending on preference. With the click of a button, operators can also return to machine control mode and switch out one attachment for another.
Other smart attachments coming, one being the dozer blade. Skid steer with backhoe attachment.
The smart smart backhoe, the BH130, is a three-ton backhoe attachment. Operators are able to run the machine in attachment activated by a simple push of a button.
The BH130 is compatible with all Cat 3 ton mini excavator attachments.
