It is equipped with two drill rod options and a 48-horsepower Kohler diesel engine, and it offers 1,000 lb.-ft. of spindle torque and 7,850 pounds of thrust/pullback. The unit has a low noise emission level of 85 dB(A) at the operator’s ear and guaranteed sound power of 104 dB(A), important for working in urban environments. It can fit through a 36-inch gate or onto a trailer with other equipment. The D8X12 has a forward travel speed of 2.8 mph and its compact size helps for repositioning between bores.
