URS Awarded Contract To Design And Build New Medical Facilities At Fort Sam Houston

URS has been awarded a major new task order under a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract to provide engineering and construction services at bases worldwide for the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) under the Heavy Engineering, Repair and Construction (HERC) contract.

URS has been awarded a major new task order under a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract to provide engineering and construction services at bases worldwide for the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) under the Heavy Engineering, Repair and Construction (HERC) contract.

Under the terms of the task order, as part of an eventual $2 billion program to upgrade and expand the base at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, URS will design and build two Medical Instructional Facilities. The facilities will be used for training military personnel from all branches in the areas of radiology, pharmacy and biomedical equipment. Training will involve dental technicians as well as nuclear medicine technologists.

Construction is scheduled for completion by fall 2010.
