Kenworth Medium Duty Battery Electric Trucks
Three medium duty Kenworth trucks have been added to its battery electric lineup: T280E, T380E, and T480E.
The BEVs are powered by Paccar’s fully integrated ePowertrain platform, offering multiple eMotor ratings from 230 to 470 horsepower with peak torque ratings of 1,100 or 1,850 lb.-ft.
Battery configurations for the medium duty trucks include two battery string options, which offer 250 kWh (up to 200 miles) and 375 kWh of energy storage (up to 280 miles), with the ability to charge in one hour, depending on battery string and charger type. All models feature DC fast charging capability with peak charging rates up to 350 kW.
Central drive eMotor allows for wheelbase flexibility, lift axle installations, and vocational-friendly BEV integrations, according to the company. Factory-installed options are available for high-voltage ePTO ports, which can be utilized to power equipment, a mechanical ePTO, or body configurations in conjunction with aftermarket body upfitters.
