Sterling Set Forward
Sterling has announced Set Forward versions of its Class 7 and 8 conventional-cab models with short and medium-length hoods and 101- and 111-inch BBCs, respectively. Compared to Sterling's current axle-back models, the forward placement of the steer axle stretches a truck's wheelbase by 20 to 23 inches in the same overall length, which adds 1,500 or more pounds of legal payload in bridge-formula states. Wheel cut is 37 degrees with 425-series wide tires and dual power steering on a 20,000-pound-capacity steer axle and 50 degrees with 11R22.5 tires on a 12,000-pound axle. More slope to the hoods allows better forward vision, and the trucks come standard with chromed grills and headlight bezels.
