Tips for at-home electric truck recharging

Oct. 26, 2023
Reimbursement plans require new policies.

As more electric trucks enter construction fleets, employees conditioned to fill up their fuels tanks off-site may need to charge their EVs at home. Companies well-versed in reimbursing for fuel by the gallon must now consider how to pay for at-home charging of company-owned vehicles.

In an article in Work Truck, MoveEV, which helps fleets convert to electric, said organizations must be aware of reimbursement regulations, including IRS rules and labor laws.

Fleet managers must determine which electric trucks can be included in a home-charging plan, and often those determinations are not universal. New policies covering how reimbursement is calculated and what responsibilities drivers will have will also be required.
