Ford recalls 870K F-150 pickup trucks

July 31, 2023
Emergency brake can engage while driving

Parking brakes may unintentionally engage on some 2021-23 Ford F-150 pickup trucks, which has caused the company to issue a recall notification for the vehicles.

According to the notice submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the rear axle wiring harness bundle may contact the rear axle housing and eventually expose the wiring. If that happens, according to Ford, the electric parking brake may engage while driving, potentially resulting in loss of control of the truck.

Owners will be notified by mail and asked to bring in their pickup truck for inspection and repair.
