With a model designated the VHD 430, Volvo Trucks is making available its VHD vocational truck and tractor with a factory-installed, 42-inch sleeper cab. The VHD 430 is designed for customers who want the established VHD's ability to operate in logging and oil-field conditions with large or heavy loads, but additionally with the sleeper berth required by hours-of-service regulations. Providing 118 cubic inches of space, the truck's sleeper is integrated into the one-piece steel cab and eliminates the need for aftermarket add-on sleeper boxes that, according to Volvo Trucks, could reduce the integrity of the cab. The VHD was previously only available with a day cab. Estimated list price: $122,258 for 6x4 axle-back configuration; $121,965 for 6x4 axle-forward configuration.
