Twelve people were injured when the boom of a tower crane tumbled onto 10th Avenue in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Earlier reports cited six injuries. Three of the injured were firefighters, and none suffered life-threatening injuries, according to news reports.
The preliminary cause of the fire that started in the crane's operator's area is hydraulic fluid leaking onto a hot area near the engine. Officials said all inspections of the crane were up to date.
