[VIDEO] Worker Freed From Trench Collapse by Stretcher Basket

Aug. 1, 2019

A worker was freed from a trench collapse on Monday, after being trapped for three hours on a construction site in downtown Minneapolis. According to several reports, the worker was alert and in stable condition while being lifted out in a stretcher-basket.

According to a report by Minnesota Public Radio (MRP), a wall at the below-ground site gave way just after 8 a.m. The worker was alone and trapped in sand up to his knees. One of his legs was caught in shoring that also collapsed.

Officials told CBS Minnesota that wet weather likely played a role in the collapse, due to softening ground.
