Top 100: Titan Takes on Full-Size Towing

Sept. 28, 2010

Nissan's first full-size pickup truck comes with a new 5.6-liter V-8 engine rated at 305 horsepower and 379 lbs.-ft. of torque. The truck has up to 9,500 pounds of towing capacity and 1,640 pounds of payload. Nissan sprays in a bedliner at the factory, and includes a Utilitrac cargo system with five open-section channels to mount toolboxes and tie down cargo. An electronically controlled five-speed transmission is standard. There is no manual transmission available. There's a tow/haul switch that holds the gears longer for shifts at higher engine revs and helps with downshifting on grades. Titan's optional trailer-towing package includes a transmission temperature gauge. Rear doors on the King Cab models open 168 degrees, folding nearly flat against the bed. Estimated list price: $22,650 to $35,100.
