With the PowerTech 2.4L and 3.0L diesels, John Deere completely redesigned its 49- to 99-hp engine offering from scratch for Tier II/Stage 2 emissions compliance with reduced noise, vibration and heat rejection. Internal balancer shafts, independent fan drive, and optimized front gear train with just two high-contact-ratio gears cut noise in half. Deere says the engines will work with the same cooling systems developed for pre-emissions-regulated equipment.
