Telehandlers, Scissor Lifts Featured At JLG Facility In Kennesaw

A new compact telehandler and enhancements to the ES scissor lift line were in the spotlight recently as construction journalists from across North America and Europe visited JLG's ServicePlus facility in Kennesaw, Ga.

A new compact telehandler and enhancements to the ES scissor lift line were in the spotlight recently as construction journalists from across North America and Europe visited JLG's ServicePlus facility in Kennesaw, Ga.

Among the machines featured was the new JLG G5-18A Super Compact Telehandler, which targets the construction, landscape and agricultural markets. It has an operating weight of 10,800 pounds and features three steering modes, a 126-inch turning radius, and a maximum capacity of 5,500 pounds. Maximum lift height is 18 feet 4 inches, and capacity at maximum lift height is 4,400 pounds. Maximum forward reach is 10 feet 10 inches. Capacity at maximum forward reach is 1,850 pounds. Options include foam-filled tires, tilt steering, an enclosed cab and air conditioning, among others. Numerous attachments are available, and the G5-18A can also be configured to accommodate skid-steer attachments.

The JLG G5-18A is one of three compact telehandlers in the JLG line. It joins the G6-23A and G5-19A.

Also featured were recent enhancements to the JLG ES scissor lift line, which includes six models ranging in lift height to 32 feet. Spotlighted were improvements in drive motor cables and cable routing, a new two-piece brake housing, and heavier cast wheels. A redesigned on-board Multi Digital Indicator (MDI) simplifies battery evaluation and fault diagnosis. Platform extensions have been redesigned for greater debris resistance, and operating enhancements include a new joystick.

Featured models included the 1230ES, with a platform height of 12 feet, platform width of 30 inches, and an inside turning radius of 5 inches.

Also highlighted was the 1930ES, with a height of 19 feet and a 30-inch-wide platform. This machine features a hydraulic pump that's integral with the lift cylinder and uses only two hydraulic hoses.

Several scissor lift attachments were also highlighted.

The event concluded with a tour of the JLG Kennesaw (Atlanta) ServicePlus operation, a 125,000-square-foot facility on a 13-acre site near Interstate 75.
