Komatsu has acquired iVolve Holdings, a provider of fleet management software for construction and mining equipment. The purchase was made through its wholly owned subsidiary in Australia.
iVolve markets its software to miners, contractors, and quarries, according to Komatsu. Its systems provide access to real-time data, allowing users to visualize operation management information and promote safe operations. It is used in Australia and North America.
The acquisition fills a niche for Komatsu by targeting mid-tier operations. Komatsu has been marketing fleet management systems through its wholly owned subsidiary Modular Mining Systems for large-scale mines and Smart Construction, an ICT construction solution, for the construction and civil engineering industry.
