Trimble recently held its Dimensions 2006 engineering and construction conference at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. With more than 2,000 registered attendees from over 47 countries around the world, the conference focused on applying technology to meet the needs faced daily by surveying, construction and civil engineering professionals.
"We are extremely pleased with the strong interest demonstrated in Trimble Dimensions," said Bryn Fosburgh, vice president with responsibility for Trimble's Engineering and Construction business segment. "It is truly a unique conference focused on how advanced technology solutions are transforming the engineering and construction industries in the way they work."
The theme of Trimble Dimensions 2006 — Building Your Connected Site — emphasized how process integration and intelligent positioning technologies enable surveying, engineering and construction professionals to reduce rework, utilize assets more efficiently and accelerate design updates, as well as improve the bidding, planning and billing cycles. With more than 125 sessions and 10 specialty tracks, the conference focused on increasing productivity in the field and in the office.
The conference featured a wide range of programs, including presentations on the underlying technologies, and sessions on applying those technologies to real world problems, as well as introductory and advanced product training. In addition, some sessions were being presented to highlight techniques to help organizations grow their maximum return on investment.
Many of the application sessions utilized Trimble users to explain the practical use of technology in surveying, civil engineering, highway and heavy construction, site preparation, and construction vehicle fleet management, as well as other emerging applications.
The conference also included a Partners Pavilion that showcased the complete suite of Trimble construction, survey, engineering, and infrastructure solutions, including products from Tripod Data Systems, Applanix, Pacific Crest, Apache, Quantm, and XYZ Solutions. Highlighted solutions and technologies included Global Positioning (GPS), total stations, field computing and data collection, 3-D scanning, pre-design construction planning, 3-D visualization, wireless communications, data transfer, and field and office software applications.
Other technology providers who are Trimble partners also participated in the conference to extend the conference's range of products and applications.
