Replacing the TB016, the TB216 features an updated modern profile that houses a Yanmar Tier 4-Final engine, producing 15 horsepower. It has an operating weight of 3,900 pounds, and features a retractable undercarriage. The undercarriage has a two-speed planetary travel motor that delivers a maximum 2.6 mph travel speed and comes with an automatic shift down feature for greater drive torque when turning or pushing. The 9-inch-wide track helps provide a low ground pressure of only 4.3 psi and the dozer blade is equipped with bolt-on extensions that can be removed to reduce the overall width of the machine to only 38.6 inches when the tracks are retracted.

Like the other new Takeuchi Tier 4 excavators, the exterior of the machine has been completely redesigned with a sleek, modern profile for better visibility, and improved service access. A new automotive styled interior includes a multi-function monitor and switch panel, electronic throttle control, and pilot controls with dual proportional slide switches to control auxiliary hydraulic functions. The TB260 also features a Tier 4-Final turbocharged Yanmar engine that delivers 47 horsepower.
One of the largest excavators in the Takeuchi line-up, the all TB290 features an operating weight of 18,780 pounds, a bucket digging force of 16,568 pounds, and includes many of the same updates and improvements as the other excavators in the line.
