The PC88MR-8 crawler excavator replaces the PC78MR-6 with a U.S. EPA-certified, Tier-3, Komatsu diesel engine rated at 65 horsepower (17 percent more power than the PC78). Komatsu calls the 18,558-pound, minimum-swing excavator a mid-sized excavator, and says it also has more drawbar pull, faster travel speed, 10 percent more arm-digging force and a significant improvement in dozer blade travel to enhance grading and backfill operations. The PC88MR-8 swing boom reaches maximum digging depth of 15 feet 2 inches. Standard auxiliary hydraulic flow of 33 gallons per minute can be easily changed from single-direction to bi-directional flow. The new cab is the same as that used on the larger construction-sized excavators.
