Skanska is using a Hamm HD 12eVV electric compactor on a project in California. The battery-powered tandem roller is one of five pre-production models in North America, according to the company, and is designed to perform the same as a diesel unit.
The Hamm roller is being used to compact subgrade and crushed aggregate at the Fairfax station in Los Angeles as part of Skanksa’s work on the Purple (D Line) extension. It intends for the pilot to test the capability, durability, sustainability, and operator acceptance of the roller.
