Peterbilt announced the delivery of its zero-emissions Model 520EV to Republic Services, the first electric collection vehicle in the company’s California fleet as well as the first in Orange County, California.
The automated side-loader truck will provide recycling and waste collection services for the City of Santa Ana, California.
The 520EV is designed for commercial and residential applications and will move Republic Services toward it's goal of a 35 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
The truck can complete a full day’s collection route of 1,100 residential trash bins on a single charge and utilizes regenerative braking during each stop to transfer energy back into its battery packs.
