Sept. 28, 2010

Seattle— Contractors now can find documents instantly in Dexter + Chaney's Forefront Construction Suite using a Google-like search capability in its Document Imaging module.

With this feature, users can locate individual documents in their entire Forefront file system by entering any word or group of words. Forefront finds those words and lists each document that contains them, displayed by relevancy, and provides a link to open each one.

Users can enter simple searches, such as "Highway 101 overpass drawings," and quickly find all documents that contain this text. Advanced search options, such as "look for the exact phrase" and "exclude document with the words," are also possible. The search encompasses TIF images, PDF files, Microsoft Office documents, and other formats.

"In essence, Forefront Document Imaging finds and instantly displays an answer to the user's request, based on a search that has already been performed prior to that request," said John Chaney, Dexter + Chaney co-founder and president.
