Woman Pleads Guilty in Construction Zone Deaths

A woman who drove her car into a construction zone, killing six workers, pleaded guilty to six counts of negligent manslaughter. Lisa Lea could face 24 years in jail.

Her car collided with another vehicle on March 22, 2023. The other driver, Melachi Brown, pleaded guilty in 2024 to six manslaughter counts and we sentenced to 18 months. Both cars were speeding, according to authorities.

Lea was also charged with intoxicated driving offenses, and prosecutors put primary blame on her. She tested positive for THC.
