A construction worker buried up to his waist in a collapsed trench was removed safely after five hours. San Diego Fire-Rescue crews worked cautiously in order to avoid a trench collapse, according to a SDFD Twitter post.

News reports said the 62-year-old worker was between 8 and 10 feet down in the trench. He was working to remove a portion of foundation on a house remodeling project, according to reports, and he was trapped under a portion of concrete from the foundation. He was conscious and alert during the rescue and taken to a local hospital.
