Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe told reporters touring his factory that the industry could be facing a shortage of batteries.
Raw materials that are used to make the batteries that power Rivian and other electric vehicles are in great demand, he said, and shortages could “surpass the current computer-ship shortage,” he told the Wall Street Journal.
Rivian has already curtailed production projections.
