Last May 22, Nichols Company hosted an Appreciation Day for their customers in conjunction with the Bobcat 50th Anniversary Road at the Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) north of Fort Worth. The venue proved successful as it drew over 850 of their customers out for lunch and machine demos on a beautiful Thursday.

The Bobcat traveling museum, housed in a 53-foot semi trailer, featured memorabilia, historic equipment, engineering cutaways, and Bobcat videos. Bobcat salesmen Jon Haygood, Homero Gonzalez, Toby Decker, and Matt Weigand performed a "Bobcat square dance" to the delight of the crowd.

In another area, the Orange County Chopper Dixie Chopper, as seen on the Discovery Channel, drew crowds to see the famous motorcycle as well as to test drive the Dixie Chopper lawnmowers.

On the more serious side, on display were over 100 pieces of equipment from Nichols' five divisions: Bobcat, Road Building, MPS, Finishline, and Land Care. Manufacturers' representatives were on hand to discuss products from Bobcat, Morbark, Dixie Chopper, Finn, Sandvik, Universal Engineering, Greystone, Lee Boy, Profile, CMI/Terex, GOMACO, Etnyre, Doosan, Onboard Communication, GE Citi Group, Profile, Virnig, Grace Manufacturing, and attachments from Duke Arnold & Associates.

Inside the 23,000-square-foot TMS pit garage, a hamburger and hot dog lunch satisfied visitors, and a small-scale Bobcat parts department filled with novelties, necessities and Bobcat specials offered one-day event discounts.

"We appreciate the great participation from our loyal customers," said Robert Nichols. "We were pleased by the opportunity to host the Bobcat 50th Anniversary Road Tour."
