Link-Belt HTC-3140 Truck Crane Extends to 162 Feet

Dec. 11, 2012

With a rated lift capacity of 140 tons, the Link-Belt HTC-3140 hydraulic truck crane uses a five-section, full-power, latching boom that extends from 41.4 to 162 feet. The HTC- 3140 LB (Long Boom) also is rated at 140 tons, but uses a six-section main boom with retracted and extended lengths from 42.3 to 195.3 feet. Both models provide five boom-extend modes that tailor the machine to its operating situation. Optional lattice-type boom attachments can extend tip height for the HTC-3140 to 278 feet, and to 311 feet for the HTC-3140 LB.

The six-pump, pressure-compensated hydraulic system is designed to allow simultaneous operation of winch, boom-hoist, and swing functions. Outrigger beams can be deployed in three stages to accommodate the operating situation. Cummins engines are used in both the upper structure and the carrier, rated at 215 and 581 horsepower, respectively. The carrier features an Eaton 11F/3R Ultra-Shift PLUS transmission that allows no-clutch-pedal shifting. The HTC-3140 and HTC-3140 LB also uses Link-Belt’s Pulse Total Care operating system, which monitors such functions as boom latching, counterweight installation and machine diagnostics, plus functions as a rated-capacity limiter.
