Driver Dies After Striking Dump Truck
The importance of construction flaggers can't be overstated.
A Winona, Minnesota, man died this week as the result of a crash in a construction zone in the township of Utica, Minnesota.
According to the Winona County Sheriff’s Office, Zackary Wayne Ford was driving a 1992 Mazda MX-5 when the vehicle hit the back of a dump truck that was stopped on County Road 29 between Interstate 90 and County Road 18.
The dump truck, along with other traffic, had stopped due to a flagger with a stop sign in the construction zone.
When first responders arrived at the scene, Ford was not breathing and unresponsive. Life-saving measurers were attempted, but the 43-year-old died at the scene.
Other agencies that responded to the crash included Minnesota State Patrol, Lewiston Fire Department, and Lewiston Ambulance.
