Aerial Lift Topples in New Jersey, Killing One

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the incident.

An aerial work platform overturned Monday morning at a construction site in Clifton, New Jersey, killing one person, authorities said.

The incident happened near the intersection on Main Avenue near Homer Street on Monday. A video posted to Instagram by northjersey.com shows the overturned lift in the roadway following the incident.

Emergency crews were on the scene, according to Clifton police public information officer Lt. Robert Anderson, who urged motorists to avoid the area if possible. OSHA was also on hand.

Police confirmed there was one fatality. They have not released victim information at this time.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available, Anderson said.
